OUR ROLE
Established in 2010 by presidential decree, the Djiboutian Coast Guard operates under the authority of the Ministry of Equipment and Transport. It maintains permanent surveillance of the Republic's territorial waters and exclusive economic zone, along 314 kilometres of coastline bordering one of the busiest shipping routes on the planet.
Its crews carry out six complementary mandates: search and rescue, maritime safety, counter-piracy, border surveillance, protection of the marine environment and support to customs services. In 2023, its operations helped rescue around 2,300 people at sea.
